I decided very early in my academic career that I wanted to work with a contracting company and, after having completed a double degree at the Universities of Nottingham Trent and Dresden, I applied to Ringway having been attracted by the company’s Graduate Development Programme.

Duncan Cole

Occupation: Senior Technician

I returned to Norfolk County Council to become a Senior Technician.  I am currently working on a (SHJtS) Safer and Healthier Journeys to School travel scheme in Pulham Market (South Norfolk) and an Accident Cluster Site junction improvement Scheme in Stibbard (North Norfolk), and my role on both is as lead designer.

Ben Raynes Ben Raynes

The £81m Tinsley Viaduct strengthening project involves the strengthening of a 1-kilometre twin deck steel/concrete composite structure carrying the M1 and the A631 across the  Don Valley in Sheffield.  Owen Williams has the commission to supervise the works to their completion in November 2004.  Ben was responsible for the supervision of the internal strengthening works over the entire structure, including the critical stengthening of 72No. main bearing diaphragms.

Georgina Hammond Georgina Hammond

Georgina is involved in developing the environmental capability of Owen Williams and acts as the Environmental Co-ordinator for a number of major highways improvement schemes, including the A24 in Sussex and assistant co-ordinator for the Highways Agency’s A2 Pepperhill to Cobham widening scheme. As part of her role she liases with specialist subcontractors, and statutory environmental bodies including English Nature, the Environment Agency, and English Heritage.

Emma studied at the University of Leeds and achieved her Masters in Civil Engineering (Honours) Class 1. Like most other graduates, Emma attended a number of interviews, but was particularly attracted to the opportunities that FaberMaunsell offered. She felt that the interview had been friendly and relaxed, but very informative and recognised that the company offered a wide range of prospects and early opportunities for responsibility that appealed to her.

Adrian Khan

Before joining the Graduate Trainee Scheme at Cambridgeshire County Council, I spent three years studying Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham, where I graduated with a 2:1 BEng(Hons).

I have now been working for just over a year and in the first 6 months I managed and put into action traffic management projects in the South Cambridgeshire region. Then in the following 6 months I helped to implement schemes to make more efficient, the movement of traffic in the city of Cambridge. Some of my work included revising the bus station area in the centre of the city using traffic management, the initiation of partnerships and an emissions plan.
